Our Curriculum

ELA (English and Language Arts) - We have adopted the Collaborative Classroom Curriculum.  This curriculum builds a foundation of beginning reading and writing skills our Kindergartners need to be successful as they grow through the future grades. 

SEL (Social Emotional Learning) - We have adopted the Collaborative Classroom Curriculum for this as well.  This will be our first year utilizing this curriculum.

MATH - We use McGraw Hill My Math and also supplement with hands on learning activities.

Rest time

In our classroom we take a small amount of time in the day to have a rest time (aka calm our bodies).  During this time, students can rest their heads on their towels brought from home, with lights out and calm their bodies.   I do not expect students to fall asleep or nap, but we do keep it quiet to help all of us take some time to relax.  While resting, we listen to read-alouds or other learning audio.  This is very similar to SSR (silent reading time) in upper grade levels.  Each year is different when we discontinue this time as some classes need it more than others.  I will notify families if and when we stop having this time in our day.  Towels will also come home periodically to be washed or changed out with a clean one.
